I was asked by a friend to make a Slytherin birthday card for her fiancee, and I thought "Well, how am I going to do that? I have plenty of Stampin' Up and Fun Stampers Journey stamps and supplies, but they certainly don't make any Harry Potter stamps.." Wouldn't that be super awesome, though?? I decided to take a look online and see what I could come up with... Surprisingly, the printable images are few and far between... I finally settled on this one of the Slytherin crest. Wouldn't have been my first choice... if I had other choices... but it was the best I could find. Then, I had to come up with a way to incorporate that image into a card... I decided on a Joy Fold Card. I'm not really sure why it's called that, but I love the way the card is made. You have two separate "flips" to the card... Let's take a look. Above, you are looking at the front of the card, now let's take a look at the first "flip"... Since Slytherins are always striving to be the best, I decided to add this little message here. Then for the second "flip", you drop down the flap with the quote on it... Once the card is completely opened up, you have another little message plus you have room to write your own message to the recipient.
Since the colors for Slytherin are green and silver, I used some silver glittery washi tape for the mat pieces and then threw in a little black to break up the green a little. The Celebrate sentiment was stamped with VersaMark ink and then I used white embossing powder to make it stand out on the black card stock. Although I started out this project with a little reluctance because I knew I would be printing out the main focal point of the card - to me, that's "cheating"... if you're printing your stuff out, you're not being very "creative". This is just MY OPINION. When I create a card or other project, I stamp, punch, paper piece, use my inks and markers, etc... so, this just started as a "blah project" for me. Once I found the image and printed it, though, I began to create around that image. So, when it was a said and done, I felt a little better about the whole project... I just hope my friend and the recipient enjoy it. Thank you so much for "Slytherin" in and joining me today... Until next time... Peace Love & Chocolate,
